Anyone Know What Kind of Flower This Is?

They can get almost as big around as a dinner plate and I've seen them in pink and wine colors also.

We started out this morning at 7:45 AM for a walk to the park...which changed into walking to a second park nearby, then the library, then McDonalds then home...getting home around 11:00AM. A very big walk for the mom and 2 kids on a warm summer day - but the stop at McDonalds for apple pies, ice-cream cones and all the ice-water we could drink enabled us to make it home without melting.

This photo was taken next to the library. A house that has a yard that backs right up to the library fence, has in years past, grown these beautiful flowers in other colors as well. The girl wanted to know what type of flower it was - so I'm asking you?

I think it's a hibiscus. Saw your blog as I hit next blog and thought I'd leave the name. They can be bright pink and yellow.

I also think it's a hibiscus!

I was coming over to say he same thing. It's a hibiscus. We had several bushes growing up around our yard when I was a kid. I used to pretend I was Hawaiian and put them in my hair while doing a kid's version of the hula.

Here are some more pictures of this gorgeous flower:

I've seen them before, too, but I couldn't name them off the top of my head. Pretty, aren't they?

They are pretty. My mom has several in Houston and they bloom gorgeous...it gets too cold where I am so I don't get to see too many of them here:(

These grow near my house too. We call them moonflowers. They close in the day, but open at night. But that's just what we call them. ??

I agree with the hibiscus verdict...the quintessential Hawaiian print flower!
